The new realm of decentralized data clouds: Cere Network

Our world has changed rapidly in the past 30 years. All transactions that we used to do with analog systems or manually are now done via online systems. While using some of the services we receive these transactions free of charge or pay certain fees for some of them. However, all the online transactions we effect leave traces in the digital world and contribute to the data stack.

Every choice, every like, every form we fill out, every order, every comment become a part of this data. We have become a part of the digital world from what we do to our daily habits. So much so that today our world produces an average of 100 zettabytes (ZB) of data per year. When the concept of Internet of Things is included, our whole life turns into a data source. As a matter of fact, when there is so much data, it is inevitable that it will turn into a product.

Companies serving in this field collect data, a new type of asset, on their servers, analyze and report using artificial intelligence and sell them as products. Just as energy resources have been considered the most valuable product since the Industrial Revolution, and especially oil in the past century, it is not difficult to foresee that data will be considered the most valuable product in the future. In other words, data is on its way to becoming a new oil. But unlike oil, it won’t have a problem running out in the future. Because data now provides the fundamental perspective in product and service development and even policymaking. The data-driven approach creates the data economy with the participation of companies. It can even be said that monopolization has begun in this field.

Ten years ago, any list of the ten most valuable firms included oil and gas producers, consumer goods firms, and banks. Today, technology companies that do data traffic dominate the list.

Big Tech, the modern giant technology companies led by The Big Five (Amazon, Apple, Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, and Facebook) have entrenched themselves as the middlemen for access to and exchange of third-party customer data. These five companies alone have hauled in a staggering USD 900 billion of revenue in 2019.

Just as large oil fields were divided among several different companies in the past, today the data economy is heading towards a monopoly. Many technologies and machinery brands such as Samsung, Siemens, and General Electric, which want to have a say in this field, are also trying to become data companies. Because now the internet is an indispensable part of our lives and we leave traces on the internet in every step we take. Therefore, there is a need for a decentralized project that will do business in this area.

What is Cere Network? How it will change the Game

Cere Network External Developer Program

Cere Network has begun the external developer program (EDP) with a selection of evangelists and close relations to securely scale and improve the testnet before releasing it to their wider community. In June they opened up the program, and the responses were overwhelming: within a week they received over 3,000 responses and they currently have over 5,000 developers in the waiting line for the program.

I was one of the few glorious individuals who participated in this program and was also selected. Because the program is designed for developers, it may seem intimidating at first to someone with no previous coding knowledge. However, that is not the case at all. In the program, you are given weekly tasks and you are asked to complete them. However, thanks to the guides prepared by the directors of the program, your job becomes so easy that you just feel like thanking those who prepared it. Also, if you get stuck on a task, the technical people help you instantly. Thanks to the program, you better understand what high-quality background and developers Cere Network has. In addition, you have the chance to be one of the first to see the project they will present to users in the future. The Cere team are releasing weekly incentivization campaigns to keep participants engaged to ensure we are with the project for the long run. Finally, we live in time when information security and privacy are easy to reach. Although studies in this area increase, it will not be difficult to understand that none of them are cultivated like Cere Network.
